Now that the 2019 Apple iPhones have been unveiled and launched, the next big phone event in the U.S. will take place on October 15th when the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are introduced. We expect to see a number of new features for the Pixels this year including a faster 90Hz refresh rate for the display. This makes animation on mobile video games smoother and improves the scrolling experience for the phone's users. In addition, Motion Sense will employ Google's radar-based Soli chip to allow certain aspects of the phone to be controlled by hand gestures. Night Sight 2.0 will offer longer exposure times giving Pixel 4 owners the ability to engage in astrophotography. That means that they will be able to snap pictures of the stars in the night sky. The new Pixels will also have a secure version of Face unlock using a 3D mapping technique that will be similar to Face ID on the iPhone.This year, Google actually has confirmed many of these features itself via tweets, blog posts, and videos. And the company even confirmed that there will be an Orange colored Pixel 4 option this year by putting up a teaser ad in New York City's Times Square. While test models of the new Pixels have leaked in different colors, 9to5Google reports that it has been informed by a couple of sources that the official colors for this year's Pixel models will be Just Black, Clearly White and Oh so Orange. Another source says that the official Pixel 4 cases will be available in Blue, Chalk, Black, and Orange.

The Pixel 4 should feature a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2280 resolution. That works out to an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Pixel 4 XL is expected to carry a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a 1440 x 3040 resolution, also a 19:9 aspect ratio. Both models will have a square camera module in the back with a 12MP primary camera and a 16MP telephoto lens with a 5x optical zoom. The Pixel 4 XL could add a spectral sensor that will capture images of X-rays, ultraviolet rays and infrared beams; these are things that the human eye normally cannot see.

With momentum on its side, Google is hoping that the Pixel 4 series will be considered in the same smartphone tier in the U.S. that includes the iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy flagship devices.
